Principle Platform Engineer

Job Duties

Leadership role on the platform engineering team tasked with ensuring architecture and engineering tasks are managed in collaborative way. Also acts in a Platform Engineering role to design, POC and deliver solutions based on business requirements and technical best practices.
This is a hybrid role that requires a working understanding of all current technologies managed by the platform team in order to facilitate planning and recommendations across multiple disciplines. As a contributing member of the Platform Engineering team, this role also requires strong technical skills in current open systems projects (automation, virtualization, containers, etc.).

Principal Platform Engineer (Team Lead/Architect):

3+ years of experience in a leadership role (Team Lead, Architect, etc)
3+ years acting as an evangelist for platform solutions
3+ architecting Open Systems based solutions in an enterprise environment
3+ years communicating ideas to business stakeholders
3+ years doing Senior Platform Engineer level work
5+ years of experience managing production incidents in an enterprise environment
3+ years of experience with higher level programing languages (Perl, Python, Go, etc.)
Experience working across teams to gather requirements and create solutions
Experience communicating complex technical ideas to diverse audiences
Experience building code from source on Linux and AIX platforms
Experience with BCP planning to include design and execution
Experience with virtualization technologies to include design and capacity planning
Understanding of agile and traditional software development processes
3+ years doing Platform Engineer III level work

What You Will Do:

Facilitate a collaborative team environment that encourages growth through participation
Contribute to the engineering efforts of the team by actively participating in technical projects (not necessarily as the lead)
Use your analytical and programming skills to provide automated reporting across the Open Systems domain
Advocate for standards in all things
Research and run proof of concept implementations for new solutions
Work with teams across the enterprise to solve production problems
Assume technical leadership role across teams where appropriate
